the hawk circles
morning and evening
against bright summer blue
riding in the car
i look up
just in time to see her
wings stretching full span
looking effortless
from my window
she descends only
when hunger brings her
or nightfall summons
beautiful and wild
does she have any idea
how majestic she is?
