to observe the unfolding day
sorting out life and loveand just when the air gets
too warm, too still, too heavy
the breeze comes to cool us
we lift our faces
anticipating the fresh air
across cheek and neck
glistening color calls out to us
blossoms send sweet fragrance over worn fences
thistles catch ankles and tall grass teases
waiting for the breeze
I'll keep walking with you
my companion for all days
* the photo shows the bayou where we often walk.
