Signs of Spring

The robin visited our back garden on Saturday.

He took a full tour of the backyard and
perched on the ground, in trees and on the fence.

I am grateful for the first signs of spring.

Nothing in the world is quite as adorably lovely as a robin when he shows off --
and they are nearly always doing it.

Red leaves

The red leaves on this plant are the brightest thing in the front walkway.
The splashes of rain make the petals shine.

I am grateful it is flourishing in the cold weather.
A reminder that it's possible to be strong and vibrant this winter season.

December

Several birds have visited the backyard this December.

I started putting out bird seed when it turned cold.

I love seeing them in the garden. The cardinal is a favorite.

Small Beauty

This tiny blue wildflower sprung up in the shade of another plant.
I'm grateful that I didn't miss this small and delicate gift.

Yesterday

I am enchanted by my neighbor's bird of paradise.

After a long summer break, I met with friends for lunch and bible study yesterday.
I'm grateful for these faithful women.

Swallowtail Butterfly

The swallowtail moved from flower to flower.
 Her wings never stopped fluttering,
 along her self-made path.
I'm grateful my mother was outside
so we could watch and wonder together.
